This exciting event is part of HKDL’s HK$2.5 million donation to support youth development in performing arts and sports. It also demonstrates that the resort, as one of Hong Kong’s largest employers in the tourism and family entertainment industry, offers a variety of opportunities for young people to shine.
Young dancers showcase their talents at the “Hong Kong Disneyland Dance-Off Party”
In today’s finale, six finalist teams, selected from nearly 200 young dancers after two rounds of competition, joined HKDL performers along with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse to light up the Tomorrowland stage with creativity and passion for dance.
The competition attracted hundreds of youth participants ages 16-24 from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, the Philippines, and Japan, showcasing a vibrant mix of cultures and backgrounds — yet all united by their love for dance.
Each team performed their self-choreographed routines to one HKDL 20th anniversary original theme song and one self-selected song, creating a magical party atmosphere filled with high energy.
Adding to the excitement, two judges — Lyman Heung, champion of the local TV show “King Maker V,” and Hong Kong’s professional street dancer LuenMo — also took to the stage for a dance battle, making the party even more memorable.
From hip-hop and funk jazz to breaking, popping, and modern dance, these passionate young dancers captivated the audience with their best moves. The event celebrated friendship among the younger generation and the joy of pursuing dreams through dance, showing that no matter where they come from, everyone can shine on stage and share the happiness of movement.
Rockz Elements won the championship with a performance themed around adventure. They shared, “This competition gave us the opportunity to connect with more young dancers and learn from each other. It inspired us to explore different choreography styles and learn more dance genres, especially Hip-hop.”
"The Most Magical Party Spirit Award" was presented to Team BaseOut in recognition of their creativity and party spirit.
Anita Lai, Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs of HKDL said, “We always believe in the power of the younger generation and hope to share the stage of the park with them. Today, with their creativity, passion, and dreams, they light up the stage and fully showcase the charm of performing arts, especially dance. To the young generation, I say — believe in the future, because the world is full of possibilities, and so is yours.”
Hsu Siu-man, Executive Director of HKFYG said, “Dance has long been loved by young people, and it helps them cultivate competence, confidence, connections, compassion and character. Our collaboration with HKDL presents an exciting opportunity to take dance to new heights, infusing creativity into choreography and inspiring wider audiences with its beauty and artistry.”
Inspire youth to dream in performing arts
Disney is committed to inspiring the next generation of storytellers and innovators. As a sustained initiative, part of the HKDL’s donation for youth development has been allocated for free performing arts training for underrepresented children and youth organized by four NGOs, including HKFYG, the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, Hong Kong YWCA and The Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong. It is estimated that around 300 participants will benefit from the training starting that commences next week, as they gain access to the arts and opportunities to explore their talents.
This donation also marks a long-term commitment to youth development, with HKDL supporting the renovation of HKFYG’s Tin Yiu Youth S.P.O.T. in Tin Shui Wai to create a professional dance studio — a space where dreams can take root and grow.
